Reading Wednesday | Candy Apple Blessings

I’m a big fan of Autumn. So when I spotted a children’s book that talked about all the good things about Fall, I couldn’t wait to read it. Candy Apple Blessings, illustrated by Maddie Frost, is a fantastic introduction the wonderfulness found between the months of September to November.

Candy Apple Blessings has a fun rhythm and a rhyme on each page. The sturdy board book has thick pages that are easy to turn and holds up well when subjected to toddler (and puppy) treatment. It is a well-loved book in our home already, and it isn’t even September yet! The illustrations are cute and my son loves pointing to the different drawings on each page. 20180829_105440

Each poem covers a different Fall favorite such as caramel apples, pumpkins, and hay rides, as well as perhaps less fun topics such as the start of school and warmer clothes. I especially liked that it talked about decorating for fall, something I enjoy doing, however, I missed reading a poem about Halloween.

Most of all, I liked that it reminded us to be thankful for all these blessings. The Thanksgiving hymn Count your Blessings is one of my favorite songs, and the reminder at the end of the book to thank God for all these good things leaves me humming the song as we finish reading.

For a cute book about a fantastic topic, check out Candy Apple Blessings. It’s a great opportunity to teach children about being grateful for all the fun and beautiful things we can discover about Fall.
